On June 6th, 2018, the Builders of Color Coalition, in partnership with AAREP New England and Redgate, hosted a tour by Megha Vadula, Redgate Senior Project Manager, of South Boston’s 1903 Edison Power Plant.

The groundbreaking 15 acre, 2.1 million square foot development will include 8 new buildings comprising residential, office, hotel, retail, arts, and waterfront public space.

The power plant was first opened in the 1800’s and since then has been used for coal, oil, and natural gas power generation.  Since 2007, the site has gone underutilized, awaiting the next chapter in its history. The upcoming development will maintain historic elements, like the Edison Turbine Hall, while allowing for expanded access to the waterfront and creating new, active open spaces.

The Builders of Color Coalition (BCC) convenes minority real estate professionals in Greater Boston’s building sector for the purposes of mutual professional development and leveraged access to development projects.  BCC’s membership comprises developers, investors, architects, attorneys, bankers, contractors, and brokers working across a wide range of firms, from family-owned enterprises to multinational companies.
