The Builders of Color Coalition (BCC), African American Real Estate Professionals, and UFI Community Land Trust hosted a full house at the beautiful Fowler Clark Epstein Farm in Mattapan for a forum showcasing recent developments as case studies in utilizing the tools of real estate development to advance community interests.

Presenters:
Shaurya Batra, Real Estate Development Director, Historic Boston Inc.
Dave Traggorth, President, Traggorth Companies
Kenan Bigby, Managing Director, Trinity Financial
Moderated by: Dave Madan, Partner, Boston Investments

Whereas real estate and community development are often perceived as being in conflict, the forum highlighted opportunities for developers and community practitioners to work together to build vibrant, healthy, resourced neighborhoods.  Special attention was paid to how traditional mechanisms of site control, acquisition, financing, and permitting can be adapted to fit community development models. The forum was primarily geared towards real estate developers seeking to expand the scope and mission of their work.
