BCC Announces New Board Members for 2024

Introducing new BCC Board Members, Beatrice Thevenot (Director, Northbridge Partners), Kevin Bynoe (Chief Executive Officer, UHM Properties) and Troy Depeiza (Principal, DREAM Collaborative). 

The Builders of Color Coalition is excited to welcome Beatrice, Kevin and Troy, who will support the organization in accomplishing our goal of advancing access and diversity in Boston's commercial real estate sector.

Appointed to the Builders of Color Coalition Board in December 2023 all new Board members will attend their first full board meeting in March.

Beatrice Thevenot:

Beatrice Thevenot is a seasoned Director at NorthBridge Partners, boasting over 17 years of experience in the real estate industry. In her current leadership role, she is dedicated to cultivating transparent and collaborative relationships between NorthBridge and its investors. Her focus revolves around ensuring the effective communication of financial updates, strategic initiatives, and corporate performance.

In her previous position as an Asset Manager for The Green Cities Company (formerly Gerding Edlen), Beatrice showcased her expertise by successfully managing an impressive $1 billion portfolio of assets spanning Massachusetts, Chicago, and California. Her commitment to implementing comprehensive business plans for diverse properties was evident as she oversaw critical areas, including leasing, capital improvements, operations, and overall asset performance. Prior to this, Beatrice served as an Asset Manager at the DSF Group, a multi-family real estate investment company, where she effectively managed a diverse portfolio of multi-family assets along the East Coast. Her journey in real estate began as a portfolio accountant, highlighting her well-rounded understanding of the industry.

With an MBA from Babson College and a BA from Emmanuel College, Beatrice emphasizes her commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Beyond her noteworthy professional achievements, Beatrice actively contributes to the real estate community. Serving on the AAREP - New England Chapter board from 2010 to 2012, she offered valuable insights and expertise to the industry. Additionally, Beatrice plays a vital role in managing the Coffee Connectors program and Opportunity Internship, demonstrating her dedication to supporting first-generation students. As the co- host of the podcast "How I Got My Job," she focuses on providing resources to empower and guide first-generation students in the dynamic field of real estate. With her distinctive combination of education, experience, and leadership, Beatrice stands out as a distinguished professional committed to making a meaningful impact in the real estate industry and beyond.

Kevin Bynoe:

Kevin Bynoe is a founding partner and is currently the chief executive officer (CEO) of UHM Properties. As the CEO, Kevin is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company, including developing and upholding the company’s culture and mission, Implementing UHM’s long and short-term goals, and acting as the primary spokesperson.

Kevin’s career in affordable housing began at a young age as a construction laborer. Kevin started his professional career in the housing industry as a Maintenance Supervisor; he then progressed through the ranks as an Assistant Property Manager, Property Manager, Senior Property Manager, and Regional Manager. Kevin attended Wilberforce University and has received Boston University’s Certificate in Real Estate Finance, the Registered Housing Manager (RHM) designation from the National Center for Housing Management, his Low Income Housing Tax Credit C12P certification, and completed the Minority Property Management Executive Program at MIT.

Troy Depeiza:

Troy Depeiza co-founded DREAM Collaborative in 2008. He has over 25 years of experience working in the Greater Boston area leading a collaborative and successful effort between owners, consultants, neighborhoods, city officials and contractors on a wide variety of project types. Troy works closely with our clients and team members to create tailored solutions that support each project’s distinct needs.

Originally from Barbados, Troy immigrated to the US in 1990 and earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Boston Society for Architecture and serves as a board member for Builders of Color Coalition, YouthBuild Boston and the Lowell Historic Board.
